REFLECTION ON 1ST YEAR

I still remember my first day when i arrived in UK, feeling so nervous because I was travelling for the first time all alone. Coventry university played an important role in giving student lifetime experience, not just regarding studies but also involving in different social activities and to experience different cultures.

One of my goals was, to study in the best university of UK which I achieved. I feel like Coventry University is the best University because it provides us latest skills and technologies which is important in the computing field. Coventry University courses were designed in such a way, where you have to make an effort to learn something and gain essential knowledge for the real world.

PROJECT ONE:

In the starting of my first year, they allocated us in groups so we can work together and complete a project using a programming language python. In the beginning, I had no knowledge of programming skills. The lecturers taught us python from the very basic, so we can easily understand each and every aspect of this project. Project one was to a make lego robot with predefined routes and there were obstacles placed on random positions. We started our project by assigning a group leader, after that we assigned each other individual tasks, so we can complete our assigned tasks in the given time. My group members were co- operative and friendly and I really enjoyed working in this project. This helped me gain strong teamworking skills. During my project I learned to implement python and learned project management tools. Python is a simple language in programming but in the current world there is a lot of demand for python programmers.

PROJECT TWO:

In the duration of working on my second project, since most of the group members had very little knowledge and experience with OOP, it was more difficult compared with project one. In project two we had to complete a project using Object Orientated Programming. We struggled a lot in the beginning but we were working as a team, so we achieved our goals and completed the whole project. We started the project by assigning a group leader, but this time we changed our group leader so everyone can experience and gain skills of managing the group. In this project, I decided to be the group leader. We again assigned each other different tasks, so we can do work in the given time, as time management is important. At the end of the project I learned to implement Object Orientated Programming and developed time management skills and organization skills.

PROJECT THREE:

Project three was to make a program, in which the program should allow the user to select and place different types of treasure, and assign each treasure with a score. We also had to use the concept of inheritance and bubble sorting in this program. In this project we used pygame and used the version control github to complete the project. During this project, we struggled a lot because no one experienced pygame before. So we decided to learn pygame together. We enjoyed learning pygame together and got the ability to implement pygame and learnt how to use github for programming.

I have completed three projects, with the help of my team members and the staff of teachers, who helped us in every problem.

SKILLS I DEVELOPED:

After I finished all my projects, I developed time management skills, organization skills, communication skills, team work, presentation skills, decision making and public speaking skills.
